inside[OUTSIDE]

inside[OUTSIDE] is a mixed-reality soundwalk and living archive of trans* euphoria that invites participants to experience stories of joy, connection, and gender expansiveness woven directly into the natural world. Using spatialized audio and lightweight AR technologies, the project places trans* voices in conversation with real outdoor environments—forests, parks, rivers, fields—so that personal narratives blend with wind, birdsong, and terrain in real time. These stories are recorded using ambisonic techniques and “planted” non-invasively across rural and small-town landscapes, transforming everyday places into immersive, site-responsive encounters with trans* life. By pairing embodied movement with place-based storytelling, inside[OUTSIDE] reveals the naturalness of transness and the deep interdependence between gender and ecology, offering moments of wonder, grounding, and connection for participants and for the rural queer communities the project celebrates.
